Class 444 – Desiro

The class 444 Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) is part of the Desiro UK family of units built by Siemens AG.  These units were built between 2003 & 2004, and introduced into service from 2004 onwards.  These units are formed of 5 cars and are primarily used on express routes on the SouthWest Trains network.  45 units were built and are numbered as follows: 444 001 – 444 045.

Another day at work with this image, engineering work to relay and resignal the junction south of Woking station to stop conflicting moves with traffic going towards Guildford and the Portsmouth line (seen on the left) had recently taken place.  I had the camera out to primarily shoot the fresh track work but 444 016 came along and the opportunity was too good to pass up.
