Steel Tanks & Sunrise

Well I have finished updating the German (80) registered wagons which I photographed during my trip to Erstfeld, Switzerland.  As ever, the German registered wagons made up a very large percentage of wagons seen during the trip.

Wagon number 31 80 4838 774-6 (Sahlmmps-t) sits at Erstfeld, Switzerland whilst in the consist of train number 45000, the Chiasso to Mannheim mixed freight on the 18th of October 2012

A large variety of freight flows pass through Erstfeld, Switzerland, a number of which are transported in various designs of bogie tank wagons.  Below is a tank wagon carrying Ethylene Oxide according to the UN data code plate (1040) on the side of the wagon.

Another type of tank wagon which passed through Erstfeld was this bogie tank wagon which according to the UN data code panel was carrying LPG, more specifically Propene (UN code 1077).

As well as the German (80) registered wagons I have uploaded wagon updates for Hungry (55), Luxembourgh (82) and Italy (83).  With the early morning sun starting to come over the mountains surrounding Erstfeld train number 41082 passes north through Erstfeld.  The interesting thing about these Italian registered wagons is they are cleared for Channel Tunnel usage but have not passed through it as far as I am aware.

Italian registered 31 83 4909 815-8 (Sffggmrrss) heads north through Erstfeld, Switzerland with train number 41082, Melzo Scalo, Italy to Venlo, Netherlands on the 19th of October 2012
