Euro-Sheds

Over here in the UK we have a lot of Class 66s on the network.  The class 66 is mainstay traction for freight traffic in the UK, unlike Germany for example, where TRAXX and Eurosprinter variants rule supreme.  There are some places you can go in Germany where you will see a lot of what we know as a class 66 (EMD JT42CWR (M/T1), for example, Mühldorf in Germany, whilst in others you will sadly get excited to see even one.  Yes, you did read that right, over on mainland Europe you can get excited to see a ‘shed’.

The Euro Cargo Rail class 266 locomotives carry two different sets of numbers.  First up is the UIC full number which for the locomotive below would be 92 80 1 266 448-0.  The other number shown on the locomotive is 247 048-2 which ties in with its build number at EMD, (number  20068864048) and of course its running number.

The next upload on the main gallery site will be some German wagons I imagine whilst the next blog post will probably be a short one highlighting another builder of European locomotives, Voith.
